Code of Conduct
At Learning Connected, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free environment for all participants. We expect all interns to uphold the highest standards of behaviour and professionalism, ensuring that the environment remains respectful and comfortable for everyone, regardless of:
Gender
Gender identity and expression
Age
Sexual orientation
Disability
Physical appearance
Body size
Race
Ethnicity
Nationality
Religion
Political views
Previous work experience or lack thereof
Harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated. Any violation of this Code of Conduct will result in disciplinary action, which may include termination of the internship.
Expected Behaviour
Interns must:
Be punctual for all scheduled activities and meetings.
Maintain regular, professional communication with Learning Connected and the host organisation.
Notify all relevant parties as soon as possible if they are unable to attend a scheduled meeting or activity.
Treat all participants with respect and courtesy, including fellow interns, supervisors, and staff.
Demonstrate sensitivity and respect towards cultural differences and needs.
Approach sensitive issues with understanding and professionalism.
Foster an inclusive environment where all participants feel valued and respected, irrespective of race, religion, age, gender, disability, or sexual orientation.
Avoid using or tolerating any discriminatory language or behaviour, including but not limited to racist, sexist, or ableist remarks.
Complete all assigned tasks and responsibilities in a timely manner.
Submit all required weekly reflections, pre-internship, and post-internship surveys.
Promptly inform Learning Connected and the host organisation of any changes that may impact their participation in the programme (e.g., leave of absence, personal circumstances).
Unacceptable Behaviour
Interns must not:
Engage in any work-related activities under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances.
Initiate or respond to any form of inappropriate physical contact with anyone involved in the programme.
Exhibit aggressive or threatening behaviour, including physical contact or intimidating gestures.
Make inappropriate, suggestive remarks or gestures, even in jest.
Use offensive, derogatory, or abusive language when communicating with others involved in the programme.
Engage in or tolerate bullying, harassment, or discriminatory behaviour, including taunting, ridiculing, or demeaning language.
Make assumptions or jump to conclusions about others based on appearances, background, or personal beliefs.
Professional Conduct and Communication
All instances of lateness, cancellations, or lack of communication will be formally recorded. Interns who fail to meet expected standards of performance and communication will be subject to a 3-strike rule:
First strike: Verbal warning and discussion of issues.
Second strike: Written warning and action plan to improve performance.
Third strike: Termination of the internship if the issues persist.
Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in immediate disciplinary action, including termination of the internship agreement.
Reporting Procedures
If you feel uncomfortable, witness a violation of this Code of Conduct, or believe the safety and well-being of someone involved in the programme is at risk, please report it immediately to info@learning-connected.org.
All reports will be treated with strict confidentiality, and reporters have the right to remain anonymous if they wish. Learning Connected will investigate all reports thoroughly and take appropriate action to resolve any issues, ensuring the safety and support of all participants.
