Community Engagement Assistant – Durian Foundation, Nigeria

Durian Foundation is a registered NGO in Nigeria that focuses on rural development and fighting poverty by engaging and empowering women in rural communities. The organisation achieves this through vocational training, education, mindset transformation, and various agriculture projects. Its initiatives aim to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities, promote community transformation, and advocate for women's rights and education, with a strong emphasis on utilising local resources and fostering self-reliance among rural populations.

Project Scope

The Community Engagement Intern will play a crucial role in expanding the impact of Durian Foundation’s rural development projects by enhancing online presence and increasing community interaction on LinkedIn. The intern will also support the documentation of rural success stories and help with the research and coordination of new community-based initiatives.

  • Increase LinkedIn engagement by 50%: The intern will be responsible for crafting and posting at least 3 LinkedIn posts per week related to Durian Foundation's projects, rural development, and women empowerment, with the goal of boosting follower interaction and visibility.

  • Content Creation and Curation: Develop and post 10 new pieces of content (blogs, articles, or infographics) showcasing the impact of Durian Foundation’s work in rural communities. The content should highlight success stories, project progress, and the positive outcomes for women and communities.

  • Rural Story Documentation: Research, write, and publish 3 in-depth stories that focus on the real-life impact of the foundation's work in rural communities, to be shared on digital platforms.

  • Engagement Analytics and Reporting: Track and analyse LinkedIn engagement using built-in analytics tools, providing weekly reports on follower growth, post engagement, and community feedback.

  • Resource Mapping Research: Conduct online research to identify potential resources (funding opportunities, partnerships, and community assets) in 20 rural communities, assisting the team in gathering data for new project initiatives.

  • Virtual Networking: Assist in identifying and reaching out to 5 potential partners (NGOs, businesses, or influencers) who are aligned with the foundation's mission, and coordinate virtual meetings or events to promote collaboration.

  • Volunteer Engagement: Develop and post 2 call-to-action campaigns on LinkedIn, aimed at recruiting new virtual volunteers to support Durian Foundation’s projects and outreach.

Project Outcomes

  • Achieved a 50% increase in LinkedIn community engagement by posting at least 3 times weekly and monitoring engagement metrics.

  • Developed 10 new pieces of digital content (blogs, articles, infographics) to promote Durian Foundation’s impact in rural communities.

  • Published 3 detailed stories documenting the success and transformation of rural communities through Durian’s projects.

  • Conducted resource mapping research for 20 rural communities and contributed to the development of new project initiatives.

  • Identified and reached out to 5 potential partners or collaborators to expand Durian Foundation's network.

  • Launched 2 successful volunteer recruitment campaigns, resulting in new virtual volunteers joining the foundation’s projects.

Internship Requirements
