Fundraising Assistant (MFD) – African Initiative for Health and Research Promotion, Cameroon

Organisation Description

The African Initiative for Health and Research Promotion provides high-quality healthcare services with subsidies (free medical consultations, subsidised medications, and laboratory tests), free health educational programmes, mental health rights advocacy, and psychosocial counselling to traumatised victims of conflicts (internally displaced persons and refugees) and low-income individuals who otherwise cannot afford healthcare services elsewhere. Since its launch in April 2020, the organisation has impacted the lives of approximately 7,000 individuals in dire need of its health services through diverse programmes designed to meet their health needs.

Project Scope

The intern will focus on fundraising efforts to support the "Age-Active" programme, which addresses multi-factorial diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and obesity in low-income and displaced communities. The intern will help identify funding sources to support health education, screenings, and disease prevention activities.

  • Research and identify donors or grants that focus on multi-factorial diseases and public health initiatives.

  • Draft at least three grant applications for funding screenings, health talks, and community education initiatives.

  • Assist in developing fundraising content, such as proposals, donor letters, and digital marketing materials.

  • Support the planning of a targeted fundraising event or digital campaign focused on raising awareness about the impact of multi-factorial diseases.

Project Outcomes

  • Assisted in drafting at least three grant applications to fund health screenings and educational outreach.

  • Researched and compiled a list of 30 potential donor organisations focused on public health or multi-factorial diseases.

  • Contributed to at least two fundraising materials, such as donor newsletters or social media posts, to promote the cause.

  • Helped create a fundraising event or campaign strategy to support the programme.

  • Digital Literacy: Proficiency in using tools such as Microsoft Office or Google Workspace (e.g., Word, Excel, Docs), as well as familiarity with social media platforms for digital fundraising.
