Fundraising Assistant (SRH) – African Initiative for Health and Research Promotion, Cameroon
Organisation Description
The African Initiative for Health and Research Promotion provides high-quality healthcare services with subsidies (free medical consultations, subsidised medications, and laboratory tests), free health educational programmes, mental health rights advocacy, and psychosocial counselling to traumatised victims of conflicts (internally displaced persons and refugees) and low-income individuals who otherwise cannot afford healthcare services elsewhere. Since its launch in April 2020, the organisation has impacted the lives of approximately 7,000 individuals in dire need of its health services through diverse programmes designed to meet their health needs.
Project Scope
The intern will focus on fundraising activities to support the "PlanSure – Woman" project, which challenges the stigma surrounding sexual and reproductive health and empowers teenagers with vital knowledge. The intern will assist in researching and securing funds for the project’s continuation and expansion.
Assist in identifying potential donors and funding opportunities specifically related to sexual and reproductive health.
Draft at least three grant applications aimed at funding the distribution of contraceptives, STI screenings, and education workshops.
Contribute to creating fundraising campaign materials, such as newsletters, social media posts, and donor reports, to raise awareness and attract funding.
Help develop a strategy for a small-scale fundraising event or digital campaign to attract individual donors.
Project Outcomes
Assisted in drafting at least three grant applications to potential funders.
Researched and compiled a list of 30 potential donor organisations focused on sexual and reproductive health.
Created at least two fundraising campaign materials (e.g., newsletters or social media posts) to raise awareness.
Helped develop a plan for one small-scale fundraising event or campaign.
