Marketing Assistant – Jokalante, Senegal

Jokalante is a social enterprise founded in 2016. Operating in Senegal and Gambia, Jokalante improves the lives of thousands of people through high value-added informational products and services aimed at enhancing their living conditions.

Farmers are empowered with improved and tailored agricultural advice and climate information, which enhances their decision-making process for greater food security. Businesses and NGO clients are also supported through a digital toolbox platform that helps them engage more effectively with their audience.

Project Scope

This project supports Jokalante’s marketing objectives by enhancing its social media presence, developing targeted promotional campaigns, and increasing overall engagement.

  • Conducting a comprehensive social media audit to evaluate current platforms, engagement, and audience insights.

  • Developing a detailed content calendar with at least 10 scheduled posts to align with Jokalante’s marketing goals.

  • Creating three targeted promotional campaigns aimed at key audience segments, with a focus on increasing brand visibility and engagement.

  • Identifying, tracking and analysing engagement metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the campaigns and report on social media performance.

Project Outcomes

  • Identify at least three actionable recommendations for improving social media strategy.

  • Ensure 100% of the scheduled posts are ready at least one week before their publication dates.

  • Achieve a minimum of 10% engagement rate (likes, shares, comments) for each campaign.

  • Provide a detailed report on campaign performance within two days after the end of each campaign.

  • Show a 15% growth in engagement (likes, shares, comments, follower count) by the end of the project.

  • Deliver weekly reports on time, with clear updates on progress toward meeting key milestones.

Internship Requirements

  • Social Media Tools: Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and the ability to evaluate metrics such as engagement, reach, and follower growth.

  • Content Creation: Ability to create compelling social media content and promotional material, tailored to the needs of specific audience segments.

  • Performance Analysis: Capability to track and analyse social media performance, assess the effectiveness of campaigns, and make data-driven recommendations.

  • Task Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks, including maintaining a content calendar and ensuring posts are scheduled on time.

  • Digital Tools: Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite) and basic knowledge of design software (e.g., Canva) to create visually appealing posts.

  • Attention to Detail: A thorough approach to ensuring that all deliverables, such as social media posts, reports, and progress updates, meet the required standards and deadlines.

  • Passion for Marketing: Enthusiasm for learning and improving marketing strategies, particularly in the context of social media and audience engagement.

  • Language Skills: Proficiency in French is a strong advantage, as it will help with communication in Jokalante’s key markets. Feel free to submit a bilingual application/an example of your written French along with your application.
